![]() ![]() The weights on the CF equivalent of the ST1511T (a $50 upper) are listed as the same as the aluminum on the site.I didn't let myself get up-sold, and I think I'll be quite happy with that. Cool factor of carbon fiber and a minor 0.35lbs weight savings vs a less cool but seemingly more useful telescopic shaft for $30 less? What am I missing?įound this post AFTER coming back from Lowe's with a ST1511T w/2.5ah because while I was there I learned I was confused about which models were CF and had the auto-feed mechanism. How far does it telescope? What are the min and max lengths and how does this translate to user height? Are there any meaningful differences between this and the carbon fiber ones other than the shaft? The powerheads look different but they both have a powerhead so maybe it's just how it connects to the shaft or are there older/newer versions of it? It's more than the telescopic model.įinally there is also the TELESCOPIC aluminum version (ST1510T/ST1511T). Perhaps it's less susceptible to damage when kids whack it sideways even though the carbon fiber is stronger for normal use? I don't know. Not sure if it's an older version being phased out or if it has some hidden advantage. The aluminum split shaft (ST1510S/ST1511S) doesn't seem to offer, well, anything over the other models. What's the difference between the carbon fiber split shaft and carbon fiber straight shaft? Is the straight version lighter or stronger due to no connection? Does the split version fold up? If so does it fold only for shipping, at the end of the season, or after each use? It says the handle is adjustable but does it just semi-permanently reposition on the shaft or is there more to it? Assuming the shaft is a fixed length and doesn't telescope(?) is it possible to adjust the powerhead angle so that it's level to the ground when held by a taller or shorter person? Telescopic Aluminum Shaft (ST1510T bare or ST1511T w/2.5ah).Aluminum Split Shaft (ST1510S bare or ST1511S w/2.5ah).Carbon Fiber Straight Shaft (ST1520 bare or ST1524 w/5ah).Carbon Fiber Split Shaft (ST1520S bare or ST1521S w/2.5ah).The site doesn't appear to show any specs or comparison between them: 095 line and the trimmer worked flawlessly before replacing the line.I'm looking at a string trimmer but there are more options for the "best" model than I remember the last time I looked. My trimmer does not have this "load" line, and therefore there is nothing to line up. Every video I've come across so far say to line up the "load" line on the trimmer head with the holes. I even cut the line down to only 12 feet, as I thought 16 might have been too much for some reason?Īfter that not working, I jumped onto YouTube and looked up some videos. I repeated the process via the user manual ((push line through the hole to the other side until it's even, then wind it all up)). I took the trimmer head apart and removed the line that I had previously put in. After the line shortened up a bit, I tapped her on the grass while spinning to release new line. Today, I took it out and started to do some yard work. At the end of the year, I loaded the trimmer up with 16 feet of line, and put her in storage for the winter. I bought the Ego String Trimmer that has the manual loading system late last year.
